Iād like to share a little of where my journey of health and wellbeing began and why it has profoundly inspired me
along this path.
The health and wellbeing of me and my family comes firstly from my own experiences.
From my early teens I watched as my beautiful Mum led an inactive lifestyle, smoking and eating too much and the wrong food types.
I made a decision back then to live my life differently by taking care of my body through a combination of good eating, understanding nutrition, regular exercise, and adopting a fun and positive attitude towards life.
Mum gradually became obese due to her lifestyle habits and developed Type 2 Diabetes.
Slowly but surely this lifestyle damaged the very cells that could have had her living a long healthy life. She ended up suffering from many of what we now know are preventable degenerative diseases. Heart attacks ā Diabetes – Kidney failure ā Stroke – Cancer and in the end it was septicemia, that ended her life.
Sadly, she lived too short a time in good health and suffered too long in poor health, passing away just two weeks after her 69th birthday – way too early.
So you see I have seen firsthand how the effects poor diet, poor lifestyle choices can impact your life negatively and impact those who you love and love you the most.
Several other events strengthened my resolve to focus on health and
well-being.
I lost two babies, one at twenty five weeks and one at twenty weeks gestation.
I went on to eventually with the advancement of modern medical techniques have two sons.
My first son, Antony, was born six weeks early and unfortunately had double pneumothorax and immature lungs. He was ventilated and required chest drains to drain the fluid from his lungs. His first 72 hours were critical, a truly scary time.
Thankfully he responded well and after a month in hospital we took home our healthy beautiful son.
His brother Christopher was born healthy 22 months later however at three months old he contracted meningitis!
This was as you can imagine another extremely scary time. Thankfully with quick intervention Christopher made a full recovery.
Both are now in their early thirties. Fit, healthy, happy and with a strong understanding of their bodies and the importance good nutrition has to their health.
Because of these events my focus was very much on having them live full and healthy lives.
My goal was to teach my boys good eating habits and why good nutrition is essential to life and our enjoyment of it.
I wanted to make growing and eating nutritious food exciting and for it to be a natural part of life.
Paying it forward for future generations.
I hope you will join me.
