Creating Well Kids ~ healthy daily tips

  • eat in season – use locally or home grown (preferably organic if possible) source produce from your local gardeners, local markets and food stores
  • buy your meat from the butcher or the open meat section and the supermarket (try to avoid meats and chicken wrapped in plastic, on plastic trays)
    for fish if you have a local fish market go there (it’s a fun outing for the kids) or from the open wet section of your supermarket
  • buy non-food items online to avoid the temptations of supermarkets when shopping with your little ones.
  • eat the rainbow try aiming for 12 serves a day! See rainbow chart blog post
  • eat a good wholesome breakfast every day
  • create meals together~ when possible
  • sit at the table to eat or have a family picnic together
  • keep hydrated, drink plenty of clean water daily
  • turn OFF electronic devices while eating and leave in another room. This includes the TV
  • prepare and clean up together ~ when possible
  • do something to simulate your brains individually and as a family
  • go to bed earlier
  • open your windows wide and let the fresh air flow
  • exercise ~ create family rituals
